Now Hiring Director of Faith Formation

Job Description

Our Lady of the Lake is a vibrant parish with a growing number of young families. Our hope is to offer comprehensive faith formation for all ages built around the sacramental life and an encounter with Christ. The Director of Faith Formation is the primary conductor who, along with our pastor, develops and oversees the faith formation needs of the parish. Collaborating with the staff and volunteers, the Director of Faith Formation is expected to offer virtual and in-person programs to promote the traditions of our Faith, foster a deep sense of community and a desire for life long spiritual growth.

Working with the pastor, staff, families in the areas of:

  • Faith formation and sacramental preparation, including Baptism, First Reconciliation, First Eucharist, and Confirmation, including registration, marketing and electronic record keeping
  • Responsible for continuing to grow family faith formation program, Encounter, that creates an opportunity to encounter Christ and put faith into action
  • Advertise and promote programs that foster lifelong relationships with Jesus Christ and identify resources for growth
  • Live and virtual opportunities for family faith formation, including workshops, presentations, and home activities
  • Active participation of children and young people in liturgies and parish events, service opportunities, and Vacation Bible School and Children’s Liturgy of the Word
  • Oversees programs, such as Bible Studies and Catholic Social Teachings groups through providing a sound foundation and resources
  • Prepares and manages a faith formation budget, facilitates payments of services, and addresses financial needs of families who cannot pay for services
  • Attracts, recruits, trains, and supervises teachers, catechists, and volunteers
  • Communicates regularly with parents and engages with OLL school, families, and teachers while maintaining the faith formation calendar
  • Manages social media platforms in coordination with other staff members

Qualifications of the ideal candidate:

  • An engaged and practicing Catholic with a broad knowledge and understanding of Catholic doctrine, teaching, and tradition
  • A bachelor's degree, as well as, experience in faith formation/sacramental preparation of young people
  • Studies in theology or Catholic ministry at the undergraduate or postgraduate level
  • A working knowledge of Scripture, the Documents of the Second Vatican Council, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, relevant papal and episcopal writings
  • An understanding of the Rites of Initiation (RCIA and RCIA adapted for Children) processes and relevant texts
  • Strong leadership, management and organizational skills
  • Proficient in the use of Office 365, Zoom and electronic and social media or a willingness to learn

Other considerations

We view this position as an emerging leadership role that can be shaped over time. This position is posted as full-time, but we are open to hiring part-time or as job share should candidates have a preference for specific aspects of the job or working with certain age groups. OLL has a collaborative work environment that is dedicated to doing what is best for the parish and promoting its active faith life.
