Staff Biographies

Fr. Tim Clark -  Pastor/Priest Administrator 

Fr. Tim was ordained in 1980 at St. James Cathedral.  He has a bachelor’s degree in English Literature with a minor in Philosophy.  He studied in Rome from 1976-1980 where he earned an STB and beginning STL in Sacramental Theology.  Fr. Tim was born and raised in Portland, OR and moved to the Seattle area in 1969.  He is the oldest of five siblings.  Fr. Tim is an avid cyclist who also loves the sea and loves to read.  Fr. Tim serves as the spiritual leader of this parish/school community.

John Cowan - Pastoral Assistant for Administration

John comes to us after working over 25 years in the environmental science and engineering business.  His work has taken him all over the world where he and his family has been able to live and work with people from many different cultures and religious practices.  John received his BS from the University of Washington and completed further graduate studies in Agricultural Sciencem and Economics at the University of Idaho. John his wife Mary have two children both of whom live in the Seattle area.  After 36 years of marriage John's lost his wife to cancer in late 2015.  After much reflection John decided to shift his career whereupon he began studies at Seattle University's Graduate School of Theology and Ministry in Transformational Leadership.  John has a love of the outdoors and is often found in his garden or hiking around the northwest.  John loves to read and continues a practice in Centering Prayer he started with his wife. John serves as the Administrator of the Parish and the School and works closely with Fr. Tim to ensure that we are meeting the needs of the parish/school community.   

Sara Hanson -  Pastoral Minister for Music and Liturgy 

Sara has a bachelor’s degree in Vocal Performance with Piano as her secondary instrument.  She worked through college as the accompanist and assistant to the Voice Program at Sacramento City College.  She holds a Master’s of Music in conducting from the UW.  Sara is a Pacific Northwest girl through and through.  She grew up in Portland and has been in the Seattle area for over 20 years.  She oversees all liturgical activities, plans the music, and directs the choir and Sunday evening ensemble. Sara is also the Music Minister at Seattle Prep High School.

McKenzie Mauss - Director of Faith Formation

McKenzie graduated from Gonzaga with a dual degree in Religious Studies and Psychology. She met her husband at Gonzaga, who after graduating joined the Navy. They are returning from living in the Middle East, In Bahrain, for the past two years. They have a young daughter and look forward to settling into the community. McKenzie has a great passion for traveling, ministry and her family.

Kate Brown - Youth Ministry Director

Kate Brown, or KB as she also goes by, is the Youth Ministry Director for N Seattle Catholic Youth. Originally from a small town in Pennsylvania, KB has served in youth ministry in Maine, Louisiana, and Indiana.  She has a dog named Mena, named after Saint Philomena, (one of) the Patron Saint of Youth.  KB is addicted to coffee, is an avid college football fan, and thinks Harry Potter is the greatest thing ever written (after the Bible, obviously).  She has every intention of becoming a Saint.  She greatly looks forward to meeting you and journey with you this fall.

Vince McGovern – School Principal

Vince is a graduate of Catholic Education from primary through graduate school. Vince grew up in Philadelphia and graduated from La Salle University with a degree in education and earned his Master's degree at Seattle U.   He is the proud son of Lucy and Owen McGovern and has five siblings.  He and his wife, Jenny, live in Ballard with their daughters, Lucy and Fiona. Traveling and spending time with family take up most of Vince’s free time.  Life is best lived for him when he is on the beach.  Vince is responsible for keeping all aspects of the school running smoothly.

Gloria Arteaga - Bookkeeper

Gloria’s background is in Construction Finance. She used that experience to serve as the Parish Rep for the building of the new event center & while doing so, was asked to be the parish bookkeeper.  She has been the part time parish bookkeeper since 2013. In addition to Our Lady of the Lake, she is the parish bookkeeper for Saint Teresa of Calcutta in Woodinville. Parish Bookkeeping is a job she enjoys very much. Her main career when bookkeeping part time is as a General Contractor. She builds single & multifamily homes in the NE corridor. She has been a G.C. for 18 years. Gloria has been a parishioner at Our Lady of the Lake for 9 years. She has been married for 16 years & has 4 children, 3 of which are attending the parish school & one who graduated from OLL in 2017. Our Lady of the Lake is her home & we couldn’t imagine belonging to any other parish.

Torrie Smith - Pastoral Coordinator for Development

Torrie was raised in Seattle and moved to La Jolla in 7th grade. She returned to Seattle and graduated from the Art Institute of Seattle with a music business degree and then worked in new business development for radio in Seattle and New York City. After 8 years in New York City, she returned to California where she her son, Ronan, was born but chose to return to her roots in Seattle so he could be raised near family. Torrie and her family are long time parishioners of St. Catherine’s and more recently has worked at St. Pat’s  and Holyrood Cemetery. Torrie lives in Bothell with her son and they enjoy going to the movie, traveling and laughing together.

Liz Jackman - Morning Office Administrator

Liz was born in Puerto Rico but moved to Washington when she was a baby. She was raised in Bellevue and grew up in the Sacred Heart Parish and went to High School at Forest Ridge. She graduated from Whitman College and worked as a Claims Adjuster for Eagle Insurance for 10 years.  Before joining our parish staff she has been involved at our parish school volunteering.  Liz and her husband, Craig have been a parishioner at OLL since 2003 and have two kids, John and Isabel. John graduated from OLL’s Parish school in 2012 and Isabel is an 8th grader there now. Liz and her family enjoy spending time with friends and love the Huskies!

Jody Fitts - Afternoon Office Administrator

Jody was born in Seattle and raised in Edmonds.  She graduated from Shoreline Community College then started working as an Office Manager for her father’s CPA firm for over 20 years before joining the OLL parish staff.  Jody and her husband Barney have two kids Sean (9) and Sofia (7) that keep them very busy.  Jody enjoys watching sports, gardening, reading, and spending time with family and friends.  

Tim Pruss - Maintenance Director

Tim is responsible for keeping the parish buildings in a clean and safe state for all who use them.  In many ways he is a "jack of all trades”.  Tim is highly invested in the physical space we call our parish.   He has worked at OLL for many years, knows a great deal about the facility’s history.  Tim has lived in Washington all his life and has a wife, Cathy, and two grown children, Jill and Jakob.
